The Religious Right in Germany

It's not only the United States where the religious right is strengthening. They try it in Germany too. Edmund Stoiber, boss of the extremely conservative party CSU (Christian-Social Union), calls for harder punishments for blasphemy. In this Spiegel article he wants people to go to jail for up to three years in case of "serious profanities". Stoiber nearly won the elections in Germany in 2002.
